“Grieving the Loss of a Loved One: A Pathway to Healing”
“Blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted.” Matthew 5:4
The loss of a loved one is one of the most difficult challenges we experience in life. The family and friends that surround us at first eventually return to their daily lives, leaving many of us alone in navigating our continuing journey of grief. To help support those who are experiencing loss, St. Catharine-St. Margaret Parish offers a 6-session guided Bereavement Program entitled Grieving the Loss of a Loved One: A Pathway to Healing. We offer both Daytime and Evening Program options to best accommodate your schedule with all sessions meeting in Francis Duffy Hall at St. Margaret Church.
Each of our sessions are approximately 75-90 minutes in duration where participants are free to share with the group the loss of their loved one and the strong emotions we often experience like sadness, guilt, regret, shock, and even anger. We provide a welcoming and safe space where every person can grieve at their own pace in an environment that is free of judgement and where each person’s grief can be witnessed with enormous love, support, empathy, and validation from a community of grievers who share that common experience of loss with you. Each session of our Program incorporates prayer, scripture readings, and selected works of poetry, videos, and beautiful music that can help you tap into your feelings and what you are experiencing in your own journey of grief. In many ways, when we share our story of grief with one another, we can find the path to acceptance and potentially even new meaning in our lives. We provide all course materials for the Program, and it is our hope that you will prayerfully consider joining us as our Ministry has helped many of our parishioners navigate the often difficult and challenging grieving process.
If you or a member of your family are interested in attending either the Daytime or Evening Bereavement Program or would like to meet for a confidential consultation, please contact Dr. Jack V. Kirnan via text or mobile at (609) 647-5431 or send an email to [email protected]
